In reaction to the same claims that local transportation costs are limited to spur client demand, FedEx and UPS, two industry giants, decided this week to stop buying new international containers. The shippers were compelled to resume negotiations as a result of this arrangement. In a five-year strategic plan to update its shipping network, FedEx declared that it will stop investing in new containers outside of the United States. Significant airline agreements are viewed as the end of a trying time. Several sizable foreign shippers petitioned the Surface Transportation Board in February to stop future after forwarder Cogent Express alleged that domestic shippers were at fault.
